Nikon announced the D5100 DSLR camera

On Monday 04/04/2011, Nikon has added new model D5100 into their DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) series.
The new model D5100 has rotatable LCD screen, autofocus continuously function in movie mode, ISO up to 25.600 and new Special Effects mode with 4 filters that can operate in both shooting mode and recording mode.
D5100 camera has price about 800 USD, and is the upgraded version of D5000 (was introduced on 04/2009). This new model D5100 combines features of both D3100 and D7000 model, providing the filters and creation mode for ordinary users.

D5100 has the same ISO range (100-6.400, expandable to 25.600) and 16.2 Mpx CMOS sensor, 23,3-15,6 mm like Nikon D7000. In continuous shooting mode, D5100 can capture up to 4fps. D5100 has lightweight body (about 510g) and compact like D3100.

The latest functions of D5100 are largely aimed at users wishing to film with DSLR camera. This camera can record HD in 720p and 1080p at 24 or 30fps speed. 3 inch LCD screen (7.62 cm), 921,000 pixels can be pop out and turned 170 degrees, is useful when used in recorder mode and live view. New Special Effects mode provides users 4 filters that can use for short movie or images: Selective Color, Color Sketch, tilt-shift effective, and Night Vision (up to 102.400 ISO)

D5100 has continuous autofocus function in movie mode, an outstanding feature compared to D3100. A weakness of this feature is noise interference from the microphone in camera. To overcome this, Nikon will release an external microphone named ME-1, can add up to the top and connected to the input microphone. ME-1 Micro will be sold separately for $ 180 USD from April 2011.
